Starting from the dual nature of clay, “Why 2 Clay?” explores fundamental questions about the material as artists create with it and ask: Why clay? Why ceramics?

This exhibition features works by 19 artists from the level-3 course Studio: Ceramic of the Academy of Visual Arts (AVA), HKBU. On one hand, the artists examine the physical properties of clay as a kind of material—softness, plasticity, resilience, and durability. On the other hand, they investigate the possibilities that ceramics can embody in different forms. Drawing inspiration from shaping, techniques, and historical backgrounds of ceramics, as well as their individual concepts, the artists attempt to explore the potential of clay from their personal perspectives.

“Why 2 Clay?” 以探討陶泥的雙重特性為起點，藝術家們運用陶泥創作，並回答利用陶瓷的根本性問題：為什麼是陶泥？Why Clay?

是次展覽展出了來自浸大視覺藝術院 (AVA) 陶瓷工作室的19位藝術家的作品，一方面探索陶泥作為材料的物理特性：柔軟、可塑、堅韌、持久，另一方面探索陶瓷在不同型態時的可能性。藝術家們以陶藝作品的塑形、技法及歷史背影為靈感，融入藝術家們的概念，以個人視角嘗試探索陶泥的可能性。
